About

The ShapeYourPlace website has been developed for the residents of Chatteris and the surrouding villages including Manea.

How does the website work?

We’ve tried to make this website easy for you to use. This is how it works:

  1. Find out what’s been reported in your area. ”Like” and comment on what’s been reported.
  2. Report issues or suggest ideas, to improve your neighbourhood.
  3. Service providers and neighbours respond and discuss solutions.
  4. Write a blogpost.

Find out more about how the website works.

Why was the website set up?

Not everyone has the time to go to public meetings to discuss local issues with their community leaders and local service providers. Now you can use the ShapeYourPlace website to get involved from the comfort of your own home, or from a computer at a Community Access Point, library or community centre.

Who manages ShapeYourPlace?

The website was set up by Cambridgeshire County Council in partnership with Fenland District Council, Cambridgeshire Constabulary and Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Cambridgeshire County Council manage and administer the website and moderate all content posted by website users.

How was ShapeYourPlace funded?

The website was funded by a grant from the Department of Communities and Local Government.

Want to get involved?

We’re always looking for volunteers to help write articles or make videos for ShapeYourPlace about their neighbourhood. We’ll provide training and support in return, so find out more about how you can get involved and become a Community Champion.

Find out about your nearest local services like doctors, libraries and bin collections on MyCambridgeshire. The Fenland District Council A-Z of services also lists a range of public services.

For information on benefits, housing and local services you can visit the Fenland @ your service shop at 2-3 Bridge Street, Wisbech.

For concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour contact your Neighbourhood Policing Team. Please note this is for non-emergency situations only. In an emergency you should call 999.

Problems with debt or a relationship breakdown? AdviceHub is a new service from the Citizens Advice Bureau which can be accessed on the web or at touch-screen kiosks in community centres and Wisbech Library. Or you can visit the Citizens Advice Bureau at 12 Church Mews, Wisbech, for free, confidential, impartial and independent advice.

There are various Community Centres in Wisbech and the surrounding area including:

Your local councillor can help if you are dissatisfied with council services or have concerns about your local area. Parish, district and county councillors are elected to represent you and oversee the provision of local services.
